UNCG Soccer Stadium |
The UNCG Soccer Stadium is a modern soccer-only facility located in the heart of campus. Both the men's and women's teams celebrated their 20th season in the state-of-the-art facility in 2010. UNCG played on the same site, then known as Campus Field, through the 1990 season. On Dec. 6, 1990, ground was broken on the $3.6 million stadium that fans see today. Prior to the renovation, the UNCG men's soccer team was as dominant on its home field as it is today. The site of the UNCG Soccer Stadium has served as the home field for the Spartans for more than 25 seasons. Both teams have won more than 70 percent of their matches on the home pitch. Leonard J. Kaplan Center for Wellness |
The Leonard J. Kaplan Center for Wellness is designed to serve 18,000 students and is approximately 216,000 sqft.. The facility limits overcrowding and ensure equipment and programs are easily accessed to provide students & guests with a healthy avenue for engagement. The center is designed to provide wellness and leisure opportunities for all students & guests. Featuring the concepts of Universal Design, it is useable to the greatest extent possible by everyone regardless of age or ability. The facility has enhanced capacity to accommodate high-demand activities such as cardiovascular fitness, group fitness, free weights, weight machines, and informal recreation. In addition to providing enhanced activity spaces, it serves as a gathering and event space for student organizations and learning space for academic classes. |
Jefferson Suites |
Jefferson Suites, UNCG's first LEED certified Residence Hall is a one-of-a-kind place to live in the best way possible. It houses a lively, engaged, and supportive community of upper class and transfer scholars. Jefferson Suites is home to IMPACT, a living-learning community. IMPACT offers first- and second-year students a hands-on introduction to leadership to prepare them for gainful employment. The Office of Housing and Residence Life is located in the building, where a supportive staff will help you with your housing needs. Location and Building Features Located in the heart of campus, Jefferson Suites sits less than a block away from the iconic Yum Yum’s on Spring Garden Street. Residents who enter Jefferson Suites at the first floor entrance are greeted with an expansive multipurpose lobby with vaulted ceilings, modern features, leather furniture, and big-screen TVs. The lobby flows into a recreation room (with ping pong and pool tables) and ends in a full kitchen. The first floor is also home to Bojangles Restaurant, two classrooms, and faculty offices. Room Configurations The six floors in Jefferson Suites offer a variety of housing configurations, with six single suites and eight double suites per typical floor. The single suites include four single rooms that share two bathrooms and a common area (like a living room) in several different configurations. The double suites include two double-occupancy rooms, each with its own bathroom, along with a shared common area. Rooms have a sink outside the bathroom, ample closet(s), mini-blinds and carpeting. Additional amenities in Jefferson Suites include a study room, a TV lounge, a kitchenette, a music practice room, and a trash disposal room on each floor. Elevators give residents easy access to upper floors. There is a large, combined laundry room/study room on the second floor, overlooking the lobby. |
Shaw Residence Hall |
Picture an expansive, traditional quad lawn surrounded by red brick buildings, sprawling porches, and towering oak trees. This is the historic heart of the residential campus. This is a place of friendships, memories, laughter, and learning for years past and years to come. The Quad was completely renovated and all seven halls were given top-quality upgrades. Focus was placed on creating an ideal outdoor space for students to enjoy, with walkways and seating areas scattered in a beautifully landscaped, grassy common area. Shaw is the focal point of the Quad, offering a large outdoor plaza with seating walls. Building FeaturesEach of the seven Quad buildings have three floors and all but Shaw have similar floor plans, with expansive, vaulted parlors facing the lawn in the center of each building. Modern, full kitchens are just a step away from the parlors. There is elevator access to upper floors, a first floor trash room and a lounge on each floor. Laundry rooms are located at the end of every floor. Shaw contains the recreation room and multi-purpose room for all Quad residence halls and is also home to seminar rooms, group study rooms and faculty offices. Different suite layouts are available: single and double rooms with a private bath; two-person suites (two single rooms); three-person suites (one single and one double room) and four-person suites (two double rooms).
